Providing access to materials beyond our shelves has always been a priority. To better serve our patrons, we are excited to introduce Tipasa, our updated interlibrary loan (ILL) system.
Tipasa upgrades our previous interlibrary loan platform and connects us to around 4,000 libraries across the United States, significantly expanding access beyond the 73 libraries previously available through the MOBIUS consortium. This change gives patrons more choices, more formats and more control over their requests.
What does this mean for you?
With Tipasa, patrons can request a wider variety of materials from libraries nationwide, including:
- Audiobooks on CD, cassette and Playaway
- Books in standard and large print formats
- Braille Materials
- DVDs and Blu-ray
- Microfilm
- Music on CD, cassette and LP vinyl
- Musical scores
- Video games
Patrons can also request digital materials, including:
- Articles from newspapers, magazines and journals
- Sections from books
- Historical materials
What will it look like?
While Tipasa offers many new features behind the scenes, it will look and feel very similar to the previous system. Patrons can continue requesting materials in the same way they always have, with the added benefit of more options and easier tracking.
How do I access Tipasa?
Tipasa can be accessed directly online through the catalog or through here. Patrons will create an account using their library card number and email address, allowing them to place and manage requests online.
What are the benefits of Tipasa?
Tipasa offers a more user-friendly experience and additional features, including:
- The ability to track the status of requests
- Online renewal requests
- Access to a broader selection of materials and formats
- Greater visibility into current and past requests
This upgrade allows us to connect patrons with more resources while streamlining the interlibrary loan process.
